We Believe That:

1. The Holy Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired by God and do not contain any error in the original; and that it constitutes the supreme and final authority for faith and life. II Peter 1:21-22; II Timothy 3:16; Matt. 24:35

2. That God is creator and sustainer of the universe. Eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:18-19; I Cor. 6:11

3. God the Father reigns from his throne all the universe and his creatures. He works according to his purposes, he is almighty, omniscient, omnipresent and eternal. He is the Father of all those who through faith trusted in Christ as Savior. Eph. 3:9; I Tim. 4:4; John 3:16

4. God the Son: He is the eternal Son of God. In the incarnation he was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He fulfilled and revealed the will of the Father. He completely identified with humanity, but without sin. He made provision for man’s redemption by paying for man’s sins on a cross. He died and rose again with a glorified body appearing to his disciples. He ascended and is now at the right hand of the Father, being the Only Mediator between God and men. Col. 1:15-20; Acts 1:9-11; John 1:1-4

5. God the Holy Spirit: he is the third person of the trinity, completely divine. He inspired the holy men of God to write the Scriptures and he is the one who enables them to understand it. He exalts Christ and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He calls men to be saved and effects regeneration. He baptizes the believer into the body of Christ, gives spiritual gifts, and enables the believer to serve God. He seals the believer for the day of redemption and indwells every child of God, he enlightens and empowers the believer and the church for worship, witness and service. John 15:26-27; Acts 1:8; John 14:16-17

6. Man is a creation of God and that at the beginning he was innocent and with free will. By his own choice he sinned against God and even brought sin upon the human race. We believe that all men have sinned and therefore are guilty before God and are under his condemnation. Rom. 3:10; Eph. 2:1-3; Rom. 1:28-32

7. Salvation: We believe that all those who by faith receive Jesus Christ as Savior, repenting of their sins, are born again by the work of the Holy Spirit and are therefore children of God, being eternally saved. It is at that moment that the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in that life. Rom. 10:9; John 1:12; Acts 16:31

8. Grace: By his grace, God attributes merit where it did not exist and declares that there is no debt where it had previously existed. It is granting benefits to those who do not deserve them. Thus God accepts us in Jesus Christ when we are willing to repent and ask forgiveness for our sins, receiving justice from him. Eph. 2:8-10; Rom. 3:24; Acts 15:11

9. The Church is all people in this age who are truly born again and baptized by the Holy Spirit into a vital union with Christ. A local church is the visible expression of a portion of the body of Christ. It is a congregation of baptized believers associated for salvation and the fellowship of the Gospel. The local church is organized with scriptural officers who are pastors and deacons, who together with the congregation celebrate praise, edification and evangelism. Also the observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Acts 2:41; 20:17; I Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11; I Cor. 3:10-17

10. We believe that God gives spiritual gifts to all believers for the edification of the body of Christ. However, we also believe that some gifts of the Spirit, such as the gifts of tongues and healing, were evidently limited to the early church. We believe that God answers the prayers of his people and meets his needs according to his purpose. I Peter 4:10; I Cor. 13:8; Rom. 12:5-8

11. Regarding the position of women in the church, we believe that what the Apostle Paul teaches in I Tim. 2:11-14 applies to our day as well. Due to the implications of this teaching no woman can be elected as a pastor or elder of our church. The women will be able to teach the ladies, youth and children, but she will not be able to teach in a church meeting when the men are present.
